Our Solution: We developed a mobile App, Diabetes Driving Pal, to guide people with diabetes on recognizing and treating low blood sugar while they are driving. Our application has multilayer automated voice-based guiding support from just alerting an individual to calling 911 or family members during critical low blood sugar periods. In Focus study testing, people ranked our app very high. The Value: Preventing one accident would save an individual/insurance $6,100 to 1.8 million depending on severity of injury. GlucoSet is developing a non-enzymatic continuous glucose monitor for the ICU and OR. The proprietary sensor measures inside the bloodstream, through catheters the patient already has. This makes the solution truly real-time, reliable and easy to adopt in clinical practice. Glucose levels are shown at the bedside patient monitor, and the user is alerted when glucose passes user-adjustable alarm limits. The product is still in development and not available for sale, and has undergone testing in animals, healthy subjects and ICU patients.
